First Visit

First dentist visit Marysville kids, pediatric Marysville, children dentist Marysville, Everett kids dentist, children dentist Everett

~ Where Smiles Begin ~

The first "regular" dental visit should be no later than your child's first birthday. In this visit, we will introduce you and your child to our staff and facility. Questions are welcomed. Exploration and observation is encouraged. Our ultimate goal is to build your child's comfort, confidence, and trust where each visit will be a rewarding experience.

We will gently examine your child's oral structural function, teeth, and clean your child's teeth and gums, apply topical fluoride to help protect the teeth against decay. When your child is old enough to cooperate, digital X-rays will be taken to check for cavities not visible to the naked eye, look for missing or extra teeth, rule out any oral pathology, and check on the development and eruption status of your child’s permanent teeth under the gums. Most important of all, we will review with you how to clean and care for your child’s teeth.

Why choose a pediatric dentist?

Happy Kids Happy Patient

As pediatric dentists, we receive an extra 2-3 years of training to focus on treating healthy and special needs children. We have spent a lot of time learning child psychology and understanding that each infant, children, and teenagers have different needs and it is important that they are approached differently from adults.  We focus on behavior management, we use conservative, and preventive approach that focuses in disease prevention and family education.  With their expertise in this area, parents can be assured that they are receiving the best information from a specialist.

In addition to the training above, Dr. Amelia Chim completed the most rigorous examination and certification process, earning her the highest distinction in her profession: a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry! This puts her in the top 10% of all Pediatric Dentist in the nation and sets her apart from all the other pediatric dentists in the country.

As children grow, their needs change. Our approach is individualized for each child according to their own physiological growth and ability. We assume a family-centered approach and offer ranges of services from preventative cleanings, digital radiography, functional frenectomy, oral myofunctional therapies, restorations, and sedation options.

As recommended by the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry, every child should have a dental home by age 1 or by the eruption of their first tooth. This is a crucial time as this allows for early disease detection and prevention as well as family education on disease processes, home care, trauma related injuries, and others.

In fact, Dr. Amelia Chim had her research published in the Journal of American Dental Association and the Journal of Pediatric Dentistry, both are very highly rated scientific journal where many dental providers refer to for continuing education. Her research is focused on providing dental care for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  Read it here:
